The Milner Continuous Variable Transmission (MCVT) is a roller ball-based friction CVT (toroidal) that does not need complicated external pressure compensation to allow for shifting. On the contrary, all mechanisms to manage friction is located internally through simple mechanical components.

The result is an extremely compact, fully mechanical CVT with a high torque density that is simple to manufacture and reliable in its operation. The transmission efficiency is amongst the highest in the market place.

InterSyn has tested prototypes ranging from 15kW to >100kW, with the 15kW design being smaller than a  soda-can. These specifications put the CVT into the target range for many types of motorized equipment, motor cycles and light cars. See more technical details
